Golden Boy Foods, a subsidiary of Post Holdings chooses Fitzgerald for $10 million investment
Golden Boy Foods – a division of Post Holdings headquartered in St Louis, Missouri – has announced an expansion at their Fitzgerald, Georgia manufacturing location. According to Jack Warden with Golden Boy Foods, the plant will be expanding their peanut roasting operations requiring an investment in the $8 - $10 million dollar range. The expansion requires an addition onto the existing manufacturing plant to accommodate the roaster which according to Warden will be the largest within the Golden Boy Foods network. “This will provide us with additional capacity to continue our growth of items requiring roasted peanuts. We are excited about our continued growth in Fitzgerald and greatly appreciate the cooperation of local and state officials. Fitzgerald Mayor Mark Massee along with Jason Dunn from the economic development authority were great to work with and provided valuable assistance during the decision phase of the project” – stated Warden. Warden stated it was preliminary at this point to state the exact number of jobs that would be created but it “would have a positive impact on the local economy”. The expansion is expected to be completed in mid-2018.
Golden Boy Foods produces peanut butter, almond butter, cashew butter, dried fruits, baking nuts and trail mixes, with locations in Fitzgerald – Troy, Alabama – Blaine, Washington – Burnaby, British Columbia – Markham, Ontario and Brampton, Ontario.
