Wiregrass Georgia Technical College
The Ben Hill Campus of Wiregrass Georgia Technical College serves the counties of Ben Hill, Irwin and Wilcox and remains dedicated to their mission of workforce development. WGTC provides individuals with the education, training and skills to positively influence a stagnant economy.
Economic Development
The Economic Development Department at Wiregrass offers direct contract training to local companies and provides continuing education opportunities for those already employed in work related classes and leisure classes. A brand new Economic Development Training Center opened in 2014 which will not only house their training but also be a facility that businesses and industries can utilize.
Wiregrass is also a vital partner to the Fitzgerald Ben Hill Development Authority as the two work together constantly on efforts to strengthen the local workforce in order to meet the demands of our expanding and new industries.

Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College
Since 1908, ABAC has provided unique, hands-on learning opportunities for students as a premier destination for Agricultural studies. They now offer a wide range of traditional 4-year degrees which include a sought after nursing program, innovative arts and science programs as well as an ever-growing list of learning opportunities and majors for students. Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College is only a short 30 minute drive from Fitzgerald and can meet most post-secondary needs of students in Ben Hill County.

South Georgia State College
South Georgia State College was created by the Board of Regents of the University System of Georgia on January 8, 2013 from the consolidation of South Georgia College in Douglas, Ga. and Waycross College in Waycross, Ga. SGSC currently offers three bachelor’s degrees – the Bachelor of Science degree in Biological Sciences (BSBS), the Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing (BSN) and the Bachelor of Science in Management (BSM). Associate degrees are also offered in 20 transfer pathways of study. Now known as a state college within the University System of Georgia, the potential exists for SGSC to offer additional baccalaureate degrees in the future. SGSC is a 30 minute drive from Fitzgerald.
