Ron Paulk, Chairman
Mr. Ron Paulk is one of the community’s most notable entreprenuers. During his career, he invented multiple farming implements that revolutionized the agricultural industry and was among the community leaders that established the Bank of Fitzgerald which has grown to become Colony Bank Corp, the parent company of Colony Bank, one of the region’s largest financial institutions.
Jim Puckett, Mayor
Mayor Jim Puckett was elected in November 2017. He graduated as the Salutatorian and Star Student from Fitzgerald High School in 1985. He then went on to earn his BBA in Real Estate from the University of Georgia and later his Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership from Georgia College and State University. He spent 18 years as a public educator – serving as an English teacher, Assistant Principal, English department chair, team leader, Graduation Coach, and Athletic Director.
Steve Taylor, Co. Commission Chairman
A lifelong resident of Ben Hill County, Chairman Taylor is entering his second term as Ben Hill County’s Commission Chairman and fifth year on the Fitzgerald and Ben Hill County Development Authority Board. In addition to his service to the community, Taylor owns and operates Southern Physical Therapy in Fitzgerald.
Before starting a career as the CEO of the Fitzgerald High School College and Career Academy, Hal was a successful small business owner. In addition, he serves as Chair of the Board for the Fitzgerald and Ben Hill County Chamber of Commerce.
The Turner name is well known throughout the banking community of south Georgia. A loan officer of Community Bank of Fitzgerald, Mark has served on the Fitzgerald and Ben Hill County Development Authority Board as the city of Fitzgerald’s representative for 7 years.
